The original home was built in the Victorian Period. Wyoming sought to preserve and reinvigorate the grandeur of the existing home whilst providing a contemporary extension. The formality of the planning was retained across the old and new. However, the spaces introduce a contemporary relevance across the different areas. The minimalist approach to finishes and materiality allowed the delicate features to be appreciated. In turn the sleek lines brings an elevated sense of luxury throughout the house. The internal spaces encourages both large and intimate gatherings whilst the new landscaping is celebrated in each view. The new addition creates a sculptural form with steel plates and angled walls, conjuring a play with light and shadow. The principal north facing garden entertaining areas are flanked by a cantilevered white steel blade canopy which acts as an homage to Victorian era verandahs. This minimalist verandah element is a bold device aimed to unify the old and new building elevations. Wyoming is given another breath of fresh air into the current century where time is rolled back ready to take on the next phase of its life.
